Marsden village is situated in the heart of the Pennine Moors in  West Yorkshire where the National Trust’s Marsden Moor Estate borders the Peak District National Park.

The village retains much of its mill working heritage and character, set alongside the river Colne and the Huddersfield narrow canal which links the canal networks of Lancashire and Yorkshire through the longest and highest canal tunnel in the country.

Fresh air and beautiful countryside with spectacular views over the numerous reservoirs make Marsden popular with walkers and film and television producers: Marsden is the ‘location’ setting for several productions including ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, ‘Where the Heart is’ and ‘The League of Gentlemen’.

With fresh greens from the greengrocer, excellent village butchers, locally brewed beers from the pubs and even a delicatessen health food shop Marsden is a real village with real people - a very nice place to be.
